We are in a culture that increasingly winks at excess. Drunkenness and inebriation are common aspects of recreation for many adults and teens. With the easing of marijuana use and possession laws across the nation and drugs’ role in pop culture there is a desensitization occurring. While the Bible in no way prohibits the moderate, non-inebreating use of alcoholic beverages there is no accommodation for mood-altering drugs. Legality does not grant moral approval.

We teach all disciples of Jesus to live lives of moderation and self-control. Drunkenness robs people of productivity and rich, responsible relationships. As an aspect of following Christ each person is called to say no to addictive behavior and find the freedom that Christ brings.
